Why BJP is politically successful in India

There is no doubt that the Hindu nationalist party BJP is currently the number one influential political party in India which has been ruling India since 2014 without any challenge.

Recently several BJP-ruled states in India imposed restrictions on Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of Bengali Hindu, various Hindutva organizations have staged protests against it

The BJP’s main goal is to unite India’s Hindus – who make up 60 per cent of the country’s population – and get them to vote for them. BJP is actually a political branch of many Hindu nationalist organizations based on hindu ideology .

The BJP, led by Narendra Modi, has won two consecutive general elections. Not only did he win, he won with huge support. Despite losing assembly elections in some states, the BJP is now looking like an all-India party.Behind the promotion and spread of this politics of the BJP is a huge network of indefatigable dedicated workers. Many of these activists are grassroots leaders of the BJP’s ideological guiding extremist Hindu organization, the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) or their “militant brother” the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP)

Modi’s ‘hypnosis’

At the root of the BJP’s electoral success. Modi’s mesmerizing personality as well as the spread of religious polarization and hardline nationalist politics.

On the other hand, the main opposition party, the Congress, is gradually weakening as the one-time superpower and India’s independence-led party seems to have exhausted much of its political power and potential. There is not the slightest hint that there is any power left or being created to truly challenge Modi.
