Arcade AI Launches to Revolutionize Custom Jewelry with User-Controlled Generative Design Tools

San Francisco, October 29, 2024 — Mariam Naficy, a trailblazer in the e-commerce and design industries, has launched Arcade AI, a unique platform that combines generative AI with artisan craftsmanship to offer custom-designed jewelry. Platform, currently in beta, aims to empower users, known as “Dreamers,” by allowing me to bring my jewelry visions to life through AI-driven design tools.

Arcade AI, which went live for select users in September, introduces a highly interactive, user-driven marketplace where customers can design their jewelry from scratch. By entering text prompts or uploading images, users can generate various design options for items like necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings. Once a design is chosen, it’s crafted by one of Arcade’s partner artisans, who use materials ranging from gold and silver to gemstones like rubies and opals. The result is a tangible piece of jewelry that reflects the customer’s creative input, made possible through a blend of technology and craftsmanship.

“I tested the platform myself,” says Lauren Forristal, a reviewer for Arcade AI, “and the results were impressive. After inputting preferences like my love for opals, AI generated a delicate floral necklace that matched my style perfectly.”

Although the platform’s technology has shown promise, it is not without limitations. Users report that while basic designs are easy to create, the AI generator struggles with more intricate requests, such as designs involving multiple charms or complex shapes. According to Naficy, these limitations are intentional. Models are restricted to ensure manufacturability based on the artisan’s data and production capabilities.

To improve functionality, Arcade AI is developing a “magic editor” to allow users to further customize its designs. Future updates may include image-prompt adapters and additional editing features to modify specific aspects of a design.

However, customizing jewelry on Arcade AI can be costly. Prices start around $100 for simpler pieces, but more complex designs can exceed $1,000. Users can also choose to save and share their designs to “Dream Boards,” allowing me to enjoy the creative process even if I don’t purchase the items.

Arcade AI also offers a commission model for creators, allowing users to profit from its designs. A “Dreamer” with over 100 followers and a track record of sales can earn a 2.5% commission on its designs. This initiative is aimed at building a creative community and incentivizing innovative design.

Despite concerns from the traditional design community about AI’s role in creative fields, the response from artisans on Arcade AI has been largely positive. Many see it as a way to expand our business, interact with customers, and better understand consumer preferences. To mitigate concerns over intellectual property, the platform’s AI models are designed to prevent direct copying of designs by adjusting AI prompt settings and blocking specific phrases.

Looking forward, Arcade AI plans to expand its product range, potentially adding categories like apparel, leather goods, and accessories, positioning itself to compete with similar platforms like Off/Script. Social and community-focused features are also in the works, including chat options and user competitions where winning designs may be awarded free jewelry.

Backed by investors such as Ashton Kutcher, Reid Hoffman, and Karlie Kloss, Arcade AI has raised $17 million in funding to support its development. With its user-centered approach to design, Arcade AI is well-positioned to reshape how consumers create, customize, and purchase jewelry—and possibly products—in years ahead.
