A bill passed in Japan on Wednesday to provide free coronavirus vaccine to all residents of the country. Japan’s House of Councillors unanimously passed the bill, it was approved by the upper house of parliament.
The bill states that the government will bear all the costs of the corona vaccine for Japan’s 126 million residents.
Japan’s has confirmed the Pfizer, Covid-19 vaccine for 80 million people. In addition, they have confirmed the corona vaccine for 25 million more people from biotech company Modern.
The Japanese government has said it will receive 120 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Pfizer and Modern have already applied for the emergency use of their vaccines in the United States and Europe. They apply to get effective results of their vaccine in the final or final stage clinical test.
The bill was passed two weeks after the country’s prime minister announced that Japan was on “high alert” for the coronavirus.
About 1.5 million people have been infected with the coronavirus in Japan so far and 2,100 people have died. The number of infected and dead people in Japan is much lower than the rate at which the coronavirus has spread to other parts of the world.
