Skyguard Anti-Aircraft Gun to Boost Bangladesh Army’s Air Defense Capability

Bangladesh army recently added Oerlikon Twin Gun GDF009 to its Adhoc 48 Air Defence Artillery Regiment. The test-firing of the anti-aircraft gun was held  Oct 13, 2019, at Nidania AD Firing Range in Cox’s Bazar. Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed witnessed the firing as the chief guest while high military officials were present.

The Oerlikon Twin Gun® Gdf009 Treo is the third generation of the legendary Skyguard air defence of the Swiss Army. It can be remotely controlled or autonomously engage targets through its integrated sensor unit. Its main purpose is the defence against all types of air threats, including cruise missiles and missiles with small radar cross-section, medium and low-level aircraft, helicopters and UAVs in all weather conditions.
