A devastating Israeli airstrike on an Indonesian Hospital in the Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza has resulted in the deaths of 33 people, including at least 21 women and children, according to medics. The strike, which also left 85 wounded, has sparked widespread concern about escalating violence in the region.
Medical staff at the hospital reported that Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) surrounded the facility and cut off its electricity supply before the strike. Gaza health ministry, run by Hamas, and Palestinian news agency WAFA warned that the death toll may rise as rescue teams are unable to reach those trapped beneath rubble.
In addition to the hospital, nearby residential areas were also targeted. Residents described scenes of destruction as Israeli tanks pushed toward the center of Jabalya, while airstrikes continued throughout the area. According to local sources, dozens of homes have been destroyed by air and ground attacks, as well as through explosives planted in buildings by Israeli forces.
Israeli Military Operations Intensify in Jabalya
The Israeli military, which has been conducting operations in Jabalya for the past two weeks, stated that its mission is aimed at dismantling Hamas’ military infrastructure and preventing militants from regrouping for further attacks. The military reported killing dozens of Hamas fighters in close-quarters combat on Thursday, in addition to carrying out targeted aerial strikes.
Residents of Jabalya have been cut off from the rest of Gaza due to an ongoing military offensive. Communications and internet services in northern towns, including Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahiya, have been disrupted, severely hampering rescue and evacuation efforts. Israeli forces have effectively isolated several towns from Gaza City, with only families complying with evacuation orders able to leave the area.
Casualties and Destruction Amid Prolonged Conflict
In a broader context, Israeli airstrikes across Gaza have killed at least 39 Palestinians on Friday, according to Hamas-run Gaza health ministry. Of se, 20 were killed in Jabalya alone. Escalating violence has resulted in widespread devastation in Gaza, as Israeli forces continue their operations against Hamas strongholds.
The humanitarian toll of the conflict is growing, with increasing reports of civilian casualties, as medical facilities, residential areas, and critical infrastructure come under attack. As conflict intensifies, re are mounting concerns over the capacity of local hospitals to cope with the overwhelming influx of wounded patients, especially in areas where rescue operations are disrupted.
Regional and International Reactions
ongoing military actions and civilian casualties have drawn strong reactions from regional and international leaders. Palestinian authorities have condemned strikes on civilian areas, including hospitals, while Israeli officials maintain that our operations are aimed at neutralizing Hamas militants and preventing further attacks on Israeli soil.
As conflict rages on, the situation remains dire for millions of Gazans caught in the crossfire, many of whom have been displaced and are now struggling to find safety and necessities in an increasingly dire humanitarian landscape.Â
