Bangladesh Technical Education Board
The Bangladesh Technical Education Board was established by Parliamentary Technical Education Act No. 1 of 1976. The overall responsibility for formulating, controlling, evaluating and developing the quality of technical and vocational education and training in Bangladesh rests with the Bangladesh Technical Education Board. The Department of Technical Education of the Ministry of Education, Government of Bangladesh manages all the polytechnics in the country centrally. All academic, administrative and developmental activities are conducted under the direct supervision of a principal in collaboration with the vice-principal.

Polytechnic institutes and technical schools and colleges
A polytechnic institute is a technical education institution where practical and vocational education is applied in addition to formal education. It is managed under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board. Bangladesh Technical Education Board operated under the siksakramagulo the Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management , Diploma in Engineering , Diploma in Textile Engineering , Diploma in Agriculture , Diploma in Forestry , Diploma in Marine Technology , Diploma in Health Technology , HSC (Business Management), HSC ( Vocational) and SSC (Vocational). Curriculum is conducted for four (4) years under the Board. The four-year curriculum is divided into eight (8) phasesThe semester is called. One working day of a semester is 16-18 weeks. As such, the working day of each year is 32-36 weeks. The final examination is held after the end of the scheduled working day.
- Bangladesh College of Leather Technology :
Bangladesh College of Leather Technology is a technical education institute in Bangladesh which was established in 1947.
- Mining and Mine Survey Technology :
The only Faculty of Mineral Resources in Bangladesh which started functioning at Bogra Polytechnic Institute in 2006 as per the recommendations of the draft Coal Policy .
- Agriculture Training Institute (ATI) :
The Diploma-in-Agriculture (4-year) course is taught in 15 ATIs in Bangladesh. The Diploma-in-Agriculture (4-year) course is also taught privately in about 160 institutions.

At present there are 49 government polytechnic institutes. Of these, 20 are old institutes, all of which are fully government-run. There are five new revenue institutes, three monotechnic institutes, 16 project projects and three women’s polytechnic institutes.
