Google wrapped up testing Android 15 with the release of Beta 4.2 two weeks ago and is already focusing on the next update, QPR1. However, according to a new report from Android Authority, Android 15 won’t be rolling out to Pixel devices until October. This delay is unexpected, especially since some users anticipated an update as early as August or September.Â
Android 15 Beta 4.2 included a message advising users to wait for a stable release in October, which confirms the delay. Â final stable version of Android 15 is expected to arrive around mid-October, although no exact date has been given. This delay is reported to ensure the stability of the update.Â
For now, Pixel 9 series and or devices will continue running Android 14, which will receive a September 2024 security patch. Despite Android 15 not being a massive update, it introduces notable features like Private Space, a revamped Material Your volume panel, and improvements to the widgets picker.Â
In the meantime, Google has already begun testing Android 15 QPR1, which is scheduled for a December release. Despite the delay, Android 15 is considered stable, making the delay somewhat surprising to those following the beta testing process. Additionally, Android 15 will be released to the Android Open-Source Project (AOSP) soon, which typically aligns with the Pixel update, although this year seems to be an exception.Â
